This shot was taken in Keoladeo National Park, a Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur in the state of Rajasthan in India. This peacock along with many more kinds of bird greeted us when we visited the park. This National Park is a man-made and man-managed wetland. Initially, it was an irrigation which also protects Bharatpur from floods then became a Bird Sanctuary when it started to attracts migratory birds. According to the management of the Park, These diverse habitats are home to 366 bird species, 379 floral species, 50 species of fish, 13 species of snakes, 5 species of lizards, 7 amphibian species,7 turtle species, and a variety of other invertebrates.

This is my favorite bird. There’s something royal to it… plus it has a very beautiful plumage – especially when it open its tail. And so this bird is also a special one in the Hindu mythology.
