Yogyakarta or locally known as Jogja, one of Indonesia’s favorite tourist destination held an annual festival called Jogja Java Carnival (JJC). This is to commemorate Jogja’s anniversary which falls during the 7th day of October. JJC is an art and cultural performance set in street carnival concept. It is a night carnival of street performance choreography held luxuriously and extravagantly which aim to promote Yogyakarta tourism.
Jogja Java Carnival presented a one of a kind festivity in the form of a night carnival that elaborates colors, shape, composition, technology, music, and lightings which decorated the city vibrantly and dazzled spectators. Witnessing this year’s celebration is an awesome experience. It was an interesting event done creatively in a way that it puts traditional values in each performances, while at the same time it strengthens the image of Yogyakarta as a “City of Culture”.
This year, they are celebrating their 255th anniversary with the tagline “Celebration of Cultural Unity “ with the theme of “Magnificent World” or “Magniworld”. Delegations from Jakarta, Semarang, Solo, Bandung, and foreign countries such as Singapore, Japan and England are among some of the participants of the event.
At around 7:00 pm, Malioboro Street was crowded with people from different parts of Indonesia and it turns into a moving stage. Hundreds of carnival participants and performers in colorful and vibrant costumes get down to the street.

Jogja Java Carnival makes the cultural of Yogyakarta more alive with diversity. The participants, performers and spectators give a real contribution to the different cultures. The level of street performances and shows are capable to attract the attention of local and foreign tourists.
